That is my average day. On weekends and days off I can play upwards of 12 hours in a row without a problem. Some years ago, when I first got Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic... I sat down and played it from start to finish... and it took 32 hours. My current record is 3 days straight back in the Megadrive days though. I'm an 0ld-sk00l gamer. It is totally natural. And for the record: #1. I have a girlfriend. She generally players on the computer when I'm on the consoles... and vice versa. She is also a gamer. #2. I don't have any other friends, because I don't believe in them. I have many "associates" but don't have much to do with those any more... and nor do I want to. #3. Sports are for the brain-dead. #4. I'm Aspergian. Social nonsense is for neurotypicals; not me. Julien... I pity you for having such a shallow, non-gaming existence. Put your friends down, forget the sports, get inside and get a 1-up. Ok so you have NO FRIENDS,why?why not play sports?make friends and be happy and not make noob friends on the net.Sports are not for "brain-dead" it actually helps u in mentally and phyically.and ur Gf is prop a nerd on the net wanting a bf aswell. And its not normal to play games everyday every hour.Go to the gym man and take an intreest in somthing esle!Tell ur Gf to stop playing games and go out and do her hair up or somthing!! |

I usually spend 1-3 hours on Guild Wars per day. The rest of my day is spent hanging out with my friends, playing football, exercising, and going out to places. With school starting, I'll have to start playing less.
I'm young and I don't want to spend most of my life playing games. Last edited by Lohk; Aug 24, 2007 at 10:34 PM // 22:34.. |

lies, mmo rpgs require you to be a lifeless nerd to get cool armor or get good weapons, not even going to discuss what it takes to get some ranks *ahem* legendary defender of ascalon *ahem*. yeah i do have a girl friend and friends and play tennis but i have had to invest insane amounts of time into the game, particularly since you have to advance the plot to get new towns and skills in nightfall (that is really such a pain). my friends and girl friend havent discovered how much ive invested in this game and although its not complete dedication its depressing and i made my fortune by doing illegal activities which more than halfed the time that would have been invested in farming so people who play the game legally probably waste more time and effort on farming expeditions that may or may not pay off (guild wars farming is worse than a bad paying job, you may or may not get paid). i think that while its possible to play obcene amounts of gw and maintain a life as i do it doesnt take away from the fact that alike any other mmorpg it slowly takes over your life demanding more and more time.
now i realise that what the box says "skill over time played", is a total lie Last edited by populationcontrol; Aug 24, 2007 at 10:33 PM // 22:33.. |

whover started this thread was bored and felt like dissing the general gw community and got what he wanted. yes 6 hours is excessive i try to have 3-4 tops but when something new comes out, have no work and friends are away some times its nice to get 6+ hours in. not in a row but having breaks once an hour to go outside talk with family or working out. o and dont forget to eat. so ya 6 hours isint that much if you do it right.

I love how this thread is full of people soothing their consciences.. Some people spend 20 mins a day playing a game, some spend 8+ hours a day playing the game. Does playing 20 minutes make you +cool? If you're here to bitch about your real life leetness, this is not the right place, gtfo.

I think a majority of gamers do have lives...although there is also a minority that are those that have no social life and do just play the game and take it far too seriously.
I'm at college at the moment, play for the college rugby team, part time job, and go out with friends often and i find time to play guild wars at night or if im not going out during the day. It's not that hard to juggle your life so that you can still have fun outside with friends etc and still be able to play games. It's annoying when people who play online games are stereotyped as being fat lazy people with no social skills. I think at the moment due to college summer holiday i usually play from midnight to about 3 in the morning most days and thats as much gaming as i can get in. Which is a fair few hours a week. Most of my friends dont even know i play this game, its just something that i like to do on the side as its a bit of fun, whereas some people like watching loads of t.v, each to there own i guess. And as for "#3. Sports are for the brain-dead", oh please get over yourself...obviously you cannot be very good at sports otherwise you would not put them down. I would like to ask you exactly how are games only for the intellectualists among us then? As Guild Wars simply involves performing the same repetitve actions over and over again according to the context in which someting occurs, the only way the game changes is by having different enviromnents and foes to kill. If we look at it like that it is also simply for the "brain dead". |

I have as much of a life as a guy who is too young for a job and too unathletic to be in the "super 1337 football teamzorz" can have.
Too young to be dating either. At least around here, only those gangsta hotshots are doing it at this time. (Yes I'm over thirteen) |

What was your first clue? Was it:
A) I'm using the computer. B) I'm using a forum. C) I'm using proper spelling and grammar. D) All of the above. |

Yeah, I agree with a lot of the previous posts...I barely ever watch TV and if I do it's like an hour or two per week for a series. My husband works 60 hour weeks and I haven't found a job out here yet (he's in the Navy and we're at a remote location) so I have a lot of time to mess around. I spend anywhere from 1-8 hours on Guild Wars, but most of the time it's on as just a chat if any guild/alliance friends come on or need help and I'm spending time surfing the internet. Out here the internet is my connection to the outside world I don't care to be friends with the other wives on base, we really don't have anything in common and I don't have any kids, lol.

Yeah... You people over-complicate things... Just play the game if you enjoy it.. Don't over obsess in the game, You still gotta do what you gotta do, whether that means Picking up your kids from school, or getting up for awhile and eating something.
It's alright to play the game, as long as you are actually "living".. I mean, if you wanna play the game for a good 8 hours straight on a weekend, at least make sure you have enough hotpockets! |
